“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” Brene Brown.
Are you BRAVE enough to “own your story?”
Allowing someone whom you don’t know (at first) to hear your story and partner with you to create
change is BRAVE! Therapy requires courage because it takes you out of your comfort zone. However, it
is a powerful first step towards healing, growth, and emotional stability that will lead to living a more
fulfilled life. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, I have developed a strength-based and solution-focused approach to counseling. Additionally, I incorporate a variety of methodologies and techniques into counseling sessions since no two clients present the same. That said, I do hold two core beliefs that I feel define my practice. The first is that “what really works in therapy is a real person connecting to a real person” (Mary Pipher). It is through this safe and trusting connection that transformation is made possible. The second is that coaching clients to build resiliency skills which include self-awareness, mental agility, connection, optimism, identification of character strengths, and self regulation is key to not only overcoming life’s challenges, but using them for your ultimate good. My goal as your therapist is to compassionately listen to your story, provide support, and offer practical feedback that will help you to optimize your life experience. Learning to thrive rather than merely survive the challenges that bring you to therapy will require commitment on your part. If you are ready to obtain greater self-knowledge and personal growth, I would be honored to help you reach your goals!
